Bluestone (or Basalt) is a strong element in the landscape. It has a myriad of grey/brown colourings that work in contrast to lush green foliage of surrounding planting. The colour tones work well with a variety of paving materials, such as basalt, granite, concrete and precast pavers. Many building colour palettes lean towards the greys and earthy colours, and as organic mulches mature they take on simular tones too.
Coming in a range of textures and uses, this is a very diverse material. From 10mm gravel to 1m+ boulders, from polished flooring to split stone walling, this stone can be used as creek beds, erosion stabilisation, gabion walls, crazy pave, steppers in garden, internal and external walling and flooring, and sculpture features just to name a few. ![]()
This stone has a lovely raw and untamed quality about it that lends itself perfectly to contemporary designs and contrasts against the humanity of building, bringing a ‘grounding’ quality to any design/garden.
